When it is worth it
Hourly hire earns its premium precisely when a schedule is uncertain. A day of meetings across the city where each might run over. A tour where you want to stop because something looked interesting. A day ashore with a hard all-aboard time and soft timings in between. A guest programme where the group moves as a group and nobody wants to be counting cars.
In all of those, the alternative — booking each leg separately — means either guessing the times and being wrong, or waiting for a new vehicle each time plans shift.
When it is not
If you know both ends of the journey and roughly when, book it point to point. You will pay less, and you will get the same car and the same chauffeur. Hourly hire priced as a single airport run is simply a more expensive way to buy the same journey.

Working out the hours
Count from the pickup to the last drop, not from the first appointment to the last. The car is yours for the whole block, including the parts where you are inside a building.
Then add an hour. Almost every underestimate comes from the same place: the plan on paper has no gaps in it, and real days do. An extra hour is cheaper than discovering at 18:00 that the booking ended at 17:30.
For a full day of meetings in central Stockholm, most people find eight hours is the honest number. For a port day, work backwards from the all-aboard time.
